Dear Editor,
My name is Keith Flowers, one of your subscribers. I thought I would write to you and see if you could possibly be of some assistance. I am visually impaired (legally blind). I was in school living with my father on my student loans and his social security. But he died a year ago and things fell apart. I couldn't continue with school and I found myself with no income at all! I have been searching for a job for the past 12 months -- a job I can see well enough to do that someone would hire me for. But so far I've had no luck. The only reason I have a roof over my head right now is because my dad left me a small 1/2 acre piece of land that I sold. I'm getting monthly payments on it -- just enough to pay my rent and utilities. But that income will end in July of this year. I've been living off dried vegestables and bacon because that's all I can afford to eat after paying rent and utilities. Right now I'm totally broke and I can't even afford to pay my phone bill. If I should lose my phone, I'll have no connection whatsoever to the outside world and no hope at all of finding employment. If my land payments should run out before I have some means of support, I'll be homeless. There is no chance at all that I could survive under those conditions. I told you all this because I want you to understand how desperate my situation really is. I'm barely surviving on borrowed time that is rapidly running out!
Years ago I used to be into photography as a hobby. I have put together six screen savers using some of my best images and placed them on a website in hopes of selling them to earn some extra money so I can at least pay my bills. But I've had little luck getting anyone to the site. I was hoping that you might be able to do something to help, being that you have an ezine. I'm not trying to promote a business here, I'm just trying to make a little money to survive on until I can find a regular job. Could you put something in your ezine to let people know that I need some help? I know they can find free screen savers all over the Internet. I'm hoping that some of them might be willing to buy the ones I've made, if for no other reason than to help out a guy in need. I do think they'd enjoy what I've created. I didn't want to ask someone for help without giving them something in return. I know what I'm asking of you isn't really on target for your ezine, but maybe you could come up with a way to present it that would generate some interest in a few people? If I don't come up with some money soon, I'll be in really big trouble. And the screen savers are all I have of value that I could sell.
I would appreciate it a lot if you could please help me get some people to my site who might make a purchase. I realize this must seem a strange request, but I've tried everything else I can think of. I'm at the end of my rope and running out of time. If you'd be willing to make an appropriate announcement in your ezine that might help me generate some income from my screen savers, I'll gladly give them to you for free. I know that doesn't seem like much, but it's the best I can do under the current circumstances. And I'd hope you'd enjoy them as much as I have. If you are willing to help me and you want the screen savers for free, you can let me know by replying to this email. I will gladly send you the link where you can download them for free.
