Several Serious Problems on the Internet
Causing Unnecessary Failures

In spite of the fact that the Internet creates millionaires every day, there are still tens of millions of people failing miserably. The three main reasons I mention in this Article may help you on your way to your goals.

Problem No 1: when people come new to the Net without any entrepreneurial experience from the offline world, many od them tend to fall prey to the common hype screaming all over the place that it's easy and everyone can make money without doing anything.

It's amazing how so many people want to believe this! To give you an easy example: Would you dare to drive or repair a car, a TV set, operate a person without knowing anything, ever learning anything and expect money for it, and not only couple of pounds but thousands, millions and want to retire within three months with full-life automatic income for all of your family?

I can clearly hear you answer: No. And how is it that so many people do exactly this on the Internet every day and feel frustrated when they only lose money.

Marketing is exactly the same as any other profession: you canNOT be successful doing it (and I mean profitably) if you don't know how to do it right and/or without doing anything. I rarely talk about my experience and hardly ever about money. Now I may surprise you but I dare say that marketing is one of the most demanding professions and needs to develop special skills if you come from a different field.

I am a computer system engineer by profession, also studied mathematics and physics, projecting fully automatic factories successfully, successful entrepreneur for all of my adult life. I had no problems to get my website designed and ranked #1 on all the major search engines within a month after I started, no problems to get automatic traffic because it's my natural thinking and I don't need too much training.

But when I started to actually market and sell online it was pretty tricky. I studied this 'science' very thoroughly and continue every day. Every day I learn something new that improves my performance, something I can apply. And I feel very alarmed when I don't find something new every day!

And if someone wants to succeed must do the same. Don't believe you can succeed without your own working system if you hire someone to build your website containing someone else's products, someone else to promote it and someone else to send emails for you to sell, or put up a couple of someone else's minisites.

The best person to learn it and do it is you. It's you who want to make money anyway. Why should you if you aren't able to do the basic homework.

Problem No 2: Entrepreneurial thinking. I consider this the most important. Most people get annoyed with me when I tell them this, feeling hurt. Nothing bad about it. It's a fact. Each of us is born with certain dispositions, gifts. If we want to acquire another, we have to systematically develop it.

Entrepreneur's and employee's ways of thinking are two different worlds. I can give you thousands of examples. The simple proof is that minimum offline entrepreneurial experience can save you the thousands you lose falling prey to the easy-to-see-through hype all around. It's a skill as any other, and can be developed if you are aware of the need. However, there's a catch:

knowledge, skills alone won't make you a master. Systematic practice will. There is one more point you should realize: For instance, I can never be a doctor and would not even dream about becoming one but if someone wants to be an entrepreneur/a marketer without a natural disposition or training, they must be aware of what it takes to become one and focus and work on developing what is necessary.

And it's up to everyone to decide for themselves how much they want it. Sometimes, the will, the desire is so strong that it has the power to overcome this natural personality obstacle. But it's not possible without the below crucial point:

Problem No 3: Knowing Yourself. The most serious problems arise from poor personal knowledge. Most people try to learn as much as they can about many items they consider vital ranging from ruling the world, managing country's funding, through mentoring neighbours' kids to using their washing machine and know next to nothing about their own character, personality, weak and strong points, not talking about what they actually wish, want or don't want and most importantly what they are willing to do for what they want or don't and what they need to achieve it.

As I remember, I always knew exactly what I did not want and went strictly after eliminating this from my life or preventing it to happen to me and achieve what I really wanted. But first, it's essential to learn what it is and be sincere to yourself. If you start to build on a false ground, you will end up with false results. You don't have to say it to anyone but you must know for yourself.

Summary: In the above, I mention, very briefly, only the basics most often overlooked but I would like to stress that you should never do anything without a proper homework and systematic study and work following your own strategy targeting your goals. If you need someone to help you, to mentor you, get him or better more people but get on the right track as fast as you can. Our time is too precious to waste it on pursuing a false route.

Why Stress Causes Aging…What You Can Do to Stop It!

Studies show that high levels of stress can lead to obesity, and definitely trigger a raft of diseases from heart attacks and cancer … to ulcers, colitis, and all the age-related disorders like arthritis. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention claims as much as 90% of doctor visits in the USA are triggered by a stress related illness.

When you get hit by stress, your adrenal glands crank out powerful hormones such as adrenaline that drive your blood pressure up. And with chronic stress, those hormones stay at dangerously high levels.

New research has shown that over-the-top stress goes beyond a temporary increase in blood pressure, and actually injures (and often kills) the cells of your body and brain. This accelerates the aging process, leaving you prone to a long list of diseases.

Dr Elissa Epel of University of California in San Francisco studied women suffering from the intense stress of caring for chronically ill children. Her study looked deep inside their cells to determine if stress was affecting a key part of their chromosomes called a “telomere.”

Telomeres cap the ends of the chromosomes containing your body' s DNA, and are recognized markers of aging. As people get older this cap gets ground down. When the telomere gets too short to work properly, cells all over your body start to sicken or die - - and the diseases of old age set in.

Epel’s research team found that the longer a woman had cared for a child with a serious illness, the shorter her telomere -- a finding that points straight to rapid aging. "It's very sad," Epel says. "These women are paying an intense personal price."

But this premature aging response was not confined to caregivers: The study also studied mothers of healthy kids. Most of the women in this group did not report burn-out stress level. But those that did also had shorter telomeres, and the related premature aging response.

When the researchers looked at the stressed-out women in both group, they found dramatic signs of damage. "They had lost the amount of telomeric DNA one would expect to lose in 10 years of aging," Dr. Epel says.

Proof a Positive Attitude Prevents Aging We all have stressful things happen to us –- loss of a job, a natural disaster, a divorce, a car accident. But does that type of stress doom us to DNA damage? Probably not. Providing you resolve the stressful situation and it does not become chronic, you can rebound and further develop your resilience and stress resistance.

The women in Dr Epel’s study who viewed their situation positively didn't seem to suffer the ill effects of stress. A positive outlook on life, a regular stress-management regime, and the support of friends can help buffer the potential damage of ongoing stress, Epel recommends.

Lengthen Your Life A great way to reduce your stress and slow down the aging process is laughter. Laughter protects your nervous system and gives your endocrine system a much-needed rest, all at the same time. It’s actually a tremendous healing activity.

When you laugh you boost your immune system, clear waste products out of your internal organs and tissues, and increase the oxygen in your body at both cellular and organ levels. (It’s interesting to note that cancer cells die in the presence of oxygen.)

So if nothing else, at least do get a good laugh about something.

The Top Seven Strategies for Website Success

Whether you’re concerned with business-to- business, or business to consumer, whether your organization is large or small, commercial or nonprofit, these are some fundamental questions around your Website and technology strategy that should be addressed.

Otherwise, you risk missing opportunities, and not maximizing the return on your investment in your online presence.

If you haven’t visited your own Website for a while, look at it again in light of these questions:

1. Does your Website present an appropriate image of your company? Marketers talk a lot about branding, and consistency of message. Does your company site reflect how you’d like your customers to feel about your business? Is it sophisticated, and professional looking? Does it speak directly to visitors in language that they’ll understand, and in ways that relate to their issues and needs?

Image is also about public relations. Publicity is a powerful marketing tool, and reporters are increasingly looking for stories and information online. Does your Website offer a media center? Does it offer comment on current events in your industry? Do you face up to the bad news, and spin it to your advantage?

2. Does your Website suggest potential for new or currently untapped markets? In almost all the sites that I’ve consulted for, we’ve identified markets or audiences beyond the “real- world” customer base of the business.

This may be because the site extends the geographic reach of your marketing. If you have good content on your site, it may also be because visitors looking for your subject area find you in search engines, and come to read your articles and white papers.

Either way, if you find many “non-traditional” visitors to your site, you should assess whether they constitute a possible new market area for your business.

3. Does your Website suggest potential for new products or services? A clear understanding of your visitor needs may also encourage you to consider new products or services. On the Web, bundling expertise into downloadable, for-sale content provides valuable new revenue streams for many businesses and non-profits.

You can find great clues for development ideas by tracking the keywords entered into your own site search engine. These show what visitors expect to find on your site – and therefore what they expect your company to offer.

4. Does your Website provide continuing added value for existing customers? Most site owners focus on acquiring new customers, and fail to maximize the opportunities to support and service existing ones.

These include password-protected areas where your clients can follow the progress of their projects, share documents with you, etc. Personalization and pre-populated forms (i.e. which are automatically filled in with the customer’s details) help to create a feeling of value, and save time for your visitors.

Check the average response time for a contact from your Website. One of the top complaints about major company sites is that e- mails are not answered in a timely (hopefully 24 hours or less) manner.

5. Does your Website support your internal operations and employee needs? This question relates to whether you’re making the best use of all available technologies, and integrating them with your online operations.

Example applications to consider include:

• Instant messaging, fast becoming a serious business tool

• Knowledge bases – continually updated databases that can provide automated customer support on a 24/7 basis

• Streaming media, perhaps for just-in-time training or on-the- spot manuals for your operatives

• Intranets and extranets, which are really just fancy names for password-protected employee and client areas

6. Does your Website integrate fully with your “real- world” activities and processes? One of the most frustrating visitor experiences is to complete a form, an application, or to submit a search on your Website, only to receive an error message.

Customers want the security of an e-mailed purchase confirmation. They want to know that they’ll be taken off your mailing list quickly and without the need for multiple requests.

With the complexity of technology and programs today, sometimes a change to a seemingly unrelated system can wreak havoc. Do you regularly check all the input forms and processes on your site to ensure that no unexpected gremlins have crept in?

7. Does your Website provide you with a justifiable return on investment? This is probably the most important question of the seven, and possibly also the most difficult.

That’s because the answer depends on a clear understanding of the goals of your site, both in direct financial terms, and in other less tangible benefits, such as name recognition.

The keys to evaluating ROI, to improving your site, and often to further business development ideas can be found in your traffic reports. These show what visitors are looking for, how long they spend on the site, where they go, where they leave, and what rate of response you get to the various calls to action.

These reports can be daunting – a mass of figures, graphs and URL’s. But I’d strongly suggest that someone in your organization should understand them. Otherwise, you’re shooting in the dark with your Web investment.
