Why Ezines Still Beat Blogs
Ever since chicken little said the sky is falling and RSS
(Really Simple Syndication) would replace Email, there have been
a very vocal group of bloggers (term given to people who write
or maintain a blog) that think blogging will replace or exceed
ezines in value. They are wrong and I'll tell you why.
1) Blogs are not a replacement for the ezine. RSS is not a
replacement for email. If youíre not blogging yet, Iíd highly
recommend it, but donít stop publishing your ezine. If anything,
begin offering an additional email newsletter for new blog posts
or weave your blog posts into your ezine. If you have a small
email list, you might think that a blog is a replacement for the
ezine but make no mistake about it: Itís not a question about
one or the other, but BOTH should be used.
2) Producing an ezine is getting easier by the day. While itís
true that producing a blog once it is setup is easier for some
than producing an ezine, once you have your ezine templates
setup Ė producing new issues is as simple as cut and paste. You
can also automate the assembly of your ezine with simple PHP
scripts if you do a lot of copying and pasting when creating
3) Ezines are the lowest common denominator to reach the
majority of potential audience members. Early adopters and the
early majority are the only folks using RSS today to read your
blog and the rest are only surfing your blog website. Itíll be
years before the greater majority of people will figure out how
to configure an RSS reader to subscribe to your blog, whereas
the majority of everyone online knows how to subscribe to an
email newsletter today.
4) When you publish a new blog post, you post it and wait for
your audience to launch their RSS reader to view it. With an ezine, you can create a larger and more immediate impact with
your message. Example: Today, this article is going out to 12,
000 list members in about an hour. 2500 of them will open it
within 36 hours and 250 will visit the site to view the full
article. It would take me a solid year to generate that level of
RSS subscribers (ohh wait, I already did that a year ago ;-). My
point: Your ezine can create just as powerful, if not a faster
impact than a plain old blog post that waits to be read.
Ezines Are Better Than Blogs Summary:
Just like RSS is not a replacement for email, blogs are not a
replacement for ezines Ė but rather, they are both a technology
you use IN ADDITION to your ezine.
Your RSS/BLOG To-Do List: If your ezine does not go out via RSS,
this is your first step. Get your tech folks to help you figure
out how to publish your ezine via RSS. Once done, then I
recommend that you add a blog to your business this year. After
your blog is added, then add an email announcement list for new
blog entries so that your blog readers can enjoy your posts via
email as well as via RSS. Lastly, let your ezine know about your
best new blog posts with each issue (cross promoting).

Daily Motivation Secrets that Really Work
Everyday life can be frustrating in today's society. It is
becoming more and more difficult for people to find happiness in
the world we live in today. But it is important to try to stay
positive and obtain daily motivation.
One reason is that it spreads onto others around us. If one
person in the workplace is happy and upbeat, it is catching to
others. If you are a happy positive person with daily
motivation, then maybe the person sitting next to you at work
will see it and it will give them, too, a lift.
Another reason to obtain daily motivation is for your peace of
mind. Life does have its downfalls, however, we need to focus
on the good things about our lives.
We will achieve way more success thinking positive than thinking
negative thoughts. We need to try to look at things as they
could be not as they are right now.
So how do we go about obtaining daily motivation? Well, there
are four practical techniques.
1. Daily motivation books
There are books available for positive reading. You start out
each day by reading a daily passage in the positive mode. It
starts your day the right way and you can think on it all day

With technology the way it is today, an e-mail a day may be the
answer for your daily motivation. There are many websites out
there that will send you free motivational e-mail messages.
3. Self help books
There a number of great motivational books that will help a
person with daily motivation.
4. Being a good Samaritan
When life looks bleak, look at the next guy. Someone always has
it worse than you. Try doing something nice for someone that is
in need. It is a great way to fell motivated and positive.
Start out each day by setting goals. Whether it be a goal to
get something done that you have been putting off for awhile or
setting goals on how to be positive throughout the day. Goal
setting is the key to self-motivation.
Positive thinking can only have a good effect on a person's
attitude. If a person starts out each morning with positive
goal to work on each day, it will encourage that person to be
positive throughout the entire day. Daily motivation can be
accomplished by something as simple as thinking positive

Is Your Website Content Worth Reading or Obvious Search Engine Bait?
Webmasters are always looking for ways to increase their traffic
and exposure. This is natural and will never change. No one is
ever content with their traffic levels.
But problems arise with this reality as well. While it is good
to be motivated to get as much traffic as possible, it is
tempting to try and cut corners and use tactics that are
temporary rather than permanent solutions.
And there are myriad tactics that can take your entire business
down the tubes as well. The trick is not to be tempted with
short-term gain over long-term income from your web business.
Is Content King?
Many webmasters are aware that "content is king" and that you
have to brand your site to make sales and build credibility. But
most people only take these facts at face value and only as they
pertain to the search engines. Big mistake.
Your content is your lifeblood for more reasons than search
engine placement. This is your "face" on the net.
So if you're using new strategies to bring in more targeted
traffic, make sure you don't use something that could kill your
business just to get some short term traffic.
Using Article Directories
Many people are putting article directories on their sites these
days. Having a set of articles on your site is great for
building credibility and making more sales, if you do it right.
But as is always the case, I see people taking that to the
extreme and missing the point entirely. Now I see some
webmasters completely emptying out the big article directories
like GoArticles.com to put hundreds or even thousands of
articles on their sites.
With no editorial review they just take the whole category their
site fits in best and grab up any and all articles in it.
Remember, anyone can get into an article directory whether they
can write or not. Whether they are an expert or not. Want those
guys on your site representing you?
Why so small? Because I review each and every article that is
submitted there. There is a very good reason for this.
The Downside of Temporary Traffic
To get someone to first visit your site takes money and time.
Once you have them there it is easier to get them back if you

have to keep in mind that you want something that will work for
you for years, not months. Therefore, if all you ever do is
troll for temporary traffic you will ALWAYS be promoting as hard
as you are today. Wasn't part of the reason you started working
online to work less and make more?
Me, I want to have a network of sites that eventually promote
themselves so I can spend the rest of my life on vacation. If
you don't start laying down the foundation of that kind of
system, you are never going to be able to retire with your site(s) supporting you.
Don't Use Content for Content's Sake
Putting up content for content's sake is redundant. Other people's
content is already on hundreds of other pages.
You don't stand out in the crowd that way alone. It is temporary
at best if it works at all for you, and once people get to your
site and realize you have harvested all your content from a
directory they have already read through, you've made an enemy,
not a customer out of them.
AND if you were unscrupulous enough to even reprint articles
from people who spammed that directory with ads, poor english,
poor advice, and everything else, I guarantee your visitors are
leaving your site with no respect for you, whatever you sell,
and with a deep hatred of "sites like yours" on the net.
That is not a long-term plan for a web business. See what I mean
by temporary? No repeat traffic is no business at all.
Providing Quality Content
So while my article directories are smaller, they have timely,
relevant content from expert authors who can spell and who
really spent time on their pieces.
Therefore I get repeat traffic, more clicks on ads, more sales
of products, and a real income from that directory that will
last as long as I own the site.
Points to Ponder:
Content is not king. GOOD content is king.
Repeat business is cheaper than new business.
Your name and brand are the only thing of singular value and
importance to you on the web.
And short-term solutions to getting in the engines are always
just that: short-term
Someday, if you are one of the webmasters I talked about above
who only see the short-term picture, you are going to get tired
of all the work you have to constantly do to keep traffic coming
And the worst part is, since you will have no foundation to rely
on when you need a break, you won't be able to take one. If your
focus on website promotion is always on short campaigns and
tricking search engines temporarily into thinking your site is
of actual value, once you stop what you're doing (probably from
sheer burnout) your income also stops.
Benefits of Quality Content
But if you have the foresight to build a base for your internet
business, and you pay attention to and have standards for the
kind of content you put up, you will be able to walk away from
your business from time to time and the traffic and interest
will still be there.
For me it is unthinkable to base my entire business on temporary
solutions for getting traffic and sales when, if you have seen
what you can make in the short term,why not get set up to reap
those rewards for life?
But that's just me. I profit greatly from people doing it the
other way. Simply because when someone comes to my site and sees
content of value, they feel as though they have found an oasis
in a desert of trash. A place they will visit more than twice
and gladly bookmark.
You can figure out the value of that kind of response for
yourself, as it pertains to your business in particular.
Between the two choices, I'll take repeat and recommended
traffic over fly-by-night, angry, resentful traffic any day of
