tells you the truth:
If your website is not making money, it’s NOBODY'S FAULT BUT YOUR OWN!
I'm warning you…this message is sharp and pointed. I guess I'm
"fighting back" after hearing so many people bitch and moan…
"Oh Dan, my website is not working money or website is not making
the kind of money I want. But it's not my fault…
*If only the competition wasn't so fierce…
*If only people were buying online more…
*If only I can get higher ranking on all the major engines…
*If only my affiliate will promote my stuff harder…
*If only I can get more traffic to the site…
*If only my customers will just send me more referrals…
If only… If only… If only… What a bunch of hooey!
I am here to tell you, if your website is not making money, the only
finger you can point is at yourself.
If you're busy pointing fingers anywhere else, you're suffering
from one of the most common "sicknesses" in business…a toxic point
of view that can kill… Passing the buck.
If you can't accept total responsibility for the success and failure
of your site, you're not in control… you're powerless.
BUT…if you "own" your website completely…if you accept that it
will rise or fall because of you… if you're fully accountable
for it…
Then you're the power figure…and you can use your power for good
-- to improve, polish, and perfect your website.
If you're willing to do the work and analyze the situation AND
YOURSELF, you'll find answers to key questions like these:
***What are my problems?
***What are the true reasons why my website is not doing well?
***What am I pretending not to know/see?
and the biggest question of all:
***What do I personally need to do or have to make things better?
Maybe you need more knowledge, maybe you need more skills, maybe
you need more traffic, maybe you’re not doing enough marketing…
It doesn't matter what you need. What matters is that you identify
the need and then fill it!
I have a friend who says that as a business person on the web, you
can take one of three approaches.
You can be a wiener (someone who throws money at a failing website),
a whiner (someone who complains about throwing money at a failing
website) or a winner (someone who says, "I'm going to make this
failing website succeed.")
If your website is not getting enough traffic, do more per-pay-click,
write articles, send out some press releases, exchange links
with other sites, whatever, do something.
If your website is not converting well, hire a copywriter, re-write
your own copy, test different website conversion strategies, do
something.
If you don’t know how to set up your site properly, hire a web
designer, learn HTML, get an auto-responder,
The key here is to stop whining, start getting mad at the situation
and then do something about it.
Do whatever you want…just do something!
Don’t sit around and hope and pray your website will do better.
Because it won’t.
What's the worst that will happen if you take action?
You'll make mistakes.
BUT…you’ll also LEARN from your mistakes. You’ll get FEEDBACK
from the marketplace so you'll know how to MAKE CHANGES so your
site will be more effective.
You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going.

Every one of us has a goal in life. Consciously, or unconsciously,
Our goals affect our life. We study hard, save for the future,
and do our best in order to have a brighter future.
It's a wonder then how come some people are more successful than
others when everyone has almost the same goal - success, happiness
and fortune. The difference is that there are people who are more
focused on achieving their goals than others. Analysts, motivational
gurus and psychologists have discovered that successful people have
developed a 10- step process on how to write down and realize
their goals.
They put their goals down on paper in such a way as to make it
seem easier - thereby giving themselves the guarantee that they
can achieve what they set out to do.
1. DEFINITE and CLEAR. It is easier to accomplish a task if you
are aware of the necessary steps to be carried out. If your
goals are vague and ambiguous, their accomplishment will be a
hit or miss exercise.
2. For goals to be attainable, they must be SIMPLE. Avoid complex,
multi- faceted goals; keep your goals definite, clear and simple
- do not include the garnishing, they come in afterwards but
they are not part of the goal, they are simply by-products.
3. Attainable goals must be IMPORTANT. A goal must be worthwhile
so that you are willing to invest the time and effort to attain
it.
4. For goals to be attainable, they must be PURPOSEFUL. In order
for you to achieve your goals, it must benefit your life.
Therefore, you have to come up with a goal that directly
influences most aspects of your individuality as a person. Your
goal must give you a sense of fulfillment, sense of accomplishment
and improvement.
5. Attainable goals are MEASURABLE. You have to set measurable
elements in your goal so you can measure your progress towards
its full realization.
6. For goals to be attainable, they must be REALISTIC. Your goal
must be rational and not impossible to achieve. Your goal must
make you raring to go to achieve it.
7. Attainable goals are CONCRETE. Make sure that your goals are
tangible, that they motivate your senses to action.
8. For goals to be attainable, they must be WRITTEN. Write down
your goals on a notebook that you keep by your bed; read it
before you sleep and after you wake up. This way you will
always stay in focus of your goals. This simple ritual
significantly increases your chance of achieving your goal
effectively.
9. For goals to be attainable, they must be SHARED. Sharing your
goal with you family and very close friends will generate
the necessary support and encouragement to keep you going.
Moral support and encouragement from people who are close
to your heart and who matter most in your life will give you
the endurance and strength of mind achieve your goals in life.
10. For goals to be attainable, they must be IN TUNE WITH YOUR
PRINCIPLES IN LIFE. From childhood, we are taught by our
parents and teachers to have principles and moral values
in life. By basing our ultimate life goal on these principles
and values, by making them in tune with one another, you have
a higher probability of achieving your goal. Avoid the pitfall
of having your ultimate life goal in conflict with your
principles and moral values; make sure that they are harmonious
with one another so that achieving them will be uncomplicated.

10 Costly Ways Your Website Is Leaking Money

We've all done it... We surf to a website hoping to find a
solution to our problem. The web page pulls up and we start
reading. Amidst the blinking of flashing links and hyped up
promotional language, we think, "Does that website really have
what I am looking for?"
The truth is, that if your visitor can't answer in about 5
seconds "What's in it for me," you've lost them. And with every
lost visitor go lost profits. How can you be sure that your
website isn't losing profits? Below are the top 10 reasons why
your website is leaking money. See how your website measures up.
1. No clear marketing message. To see an example of the absolute
worst example of no clear marketing message visit this site: http://www.alerchek.com/. Amidst the purple flowers and name AlerCheck,
visitors are given NO clue what this website is about. Even when
you click thru to the second page, the key real estate area "
above the fold" is wasted with the company name and contact
information.
Now to see an example of a marketing message done right, visit
http://www.MarkLeBlanc.com. Immediately Mark tells you he is "For
groups of small business owners who want to grow their business
and independent professionals who want to sell more products and
services." The focus is all about what he does, who he serves,
what value he provides."
2. Link overwhelm. Recently I read a horrifying statistic that said that the average home page has about 27 links on it. Talk
about confusion. Imagine that you have just walked into a
mansion. You look around and see so many rooms - it all looks
enticing. But where do you go first? Think about the top 3
actions you want visitors to take and limit your links to that.
For example maybe your top 3 actions are: signup for e-zine,
visit online store, or call for frëë consultation.
3. No call to action. Every page on your website needs to be
designed with a purpose. What action do you want visitors to
take? You may want them to: call now, sign up for e-zine,
contact for consultation, start frëë trial, email for more
information, or just click here to read more. End each page with
the call to action you want to visitor to take.
4. Not capturing lead information. The biggest sin in website
marketing is to let your visitors leave your website without
capturing their contact information. Some marketers have taken
this to the extreme by only letting visitors enter a site after
they have provided their email information. This is called a "
name squeeze" page. See an example of this here on Armand Morin'
s Big Seminar page http://www.bigseminar.com. Another way to capture
lead information is to offer a frëë teleseminar, audio recording,
video, or special report when they sign up for your e-zine.
5. Poor navigation. There's nothing worse than not being able to
find a page. Inconsistent or confusing website navigation
frustrates visitors. Having two forms of navigation can eliminate
this problem. In addition to having top or left navigation buttons
or links, create an additional set of text links at the bottom
of the page. Additionally, adding a site map can help people find
a page in a pinch (as well as make Google love your site!)
6. No personal touch. Technology can be so cold. In order for
you to create a relationship with the visitor, you need to add a
personal touch to your website. You can do this by adding your
picture, using conversational language. Easy ways to humanize
your site include adding your picture, your signature, and
personal stories. By writing as if you were writing to one
person in your target audience (rather than to an anonymous,
faceless crowd) you can establish a feeling of intimacy. You
might even want to cut out a picture, give a name, a face, and a
whole life story to this "target person" in your audience.
7. No compelling reason to buy now. Once you have someone's
interest, you need to give them an offer they can't refuse.
Coupons, discounts, and bonus gifts can create that extra
incentive. Other ideas include limited quantities, time
sensitive offers, and prices going up soon.
8. Too annoying. There's nothing worst than a "color happy"
designer that has gone a little overboard with their website
design. Sometimes, less is more. Keep load time reasonable,
avoid color overload, and make sure there is ample white space.
Additionally, too much flash, music, or animation is a turn off
to many visitors. Finally, for our eyeglass wearing friends, let'
s make sure the font size is readable for them too!
9. Lack of professionalism. Want to turn off a client? Typos
will do it. Having a proofreader review your website helps you
eliminate those pesky typos, grammar and punctuation errors, and
broken links.
10. Missing or hard to find contact information. Let's say that
your customer has his credit card out and has a question. He
searches your website for your phone number and can't find it
anywhere. Frustrated he leaves your website and surfs on to
another site. Don't risk losing business like this!
Have a contact page listing your full contact info. Take a
little tip from Victoria's Secrets. Did you ever notice that at
the bottom of every page of their catalog they have their 1-800
order number? Adding your phone number to the bottom of every
page can net you a few more orders!
SUMMARY: Websites can be a confusing place. Let's do our job of
making it easier for people to do business with us. By taking a
second look at your website, you can plug up the money holes and
be on your way to greater website profits!
