Common Misconceptions and Necessary Tools for Online Success
Darryl Graham
1) You want your cake and you want to eat it too. This is such
a "duh" saying. Personally, I do want my cake and you bet I am
going to eat it too.
2) Talking to yourself is fine, but you need to worry when you
start answering yourself. Again, speaking from personal
experience, if I do not answer myself, who is going to? Someone
else, they will not, they will too-- You keep out of it. I don't
have to. Yes, you do. Who says? I do! Well, you get the
point.
3) You can make money on the Internet with Free Programs and not
doing any work. Join free, and we will do all the work and you
just cash checks. Now this one is my personal favorites and I
am still finding it hard to believe that people will buy into
this stuff. Notice the word buy, because at some point, these
free programs are going to find a way to get your money.
Hello-- If a program is free, where does the money come from to
pay you? Nobody gets paid a dime until someone buys something
and if you are not willing to pay for the service, why would
anyone else?
Bryan Adams said it best in one of his songs. "They say the
best in life is free, but if you don't pay, than you don't eat"
If you are looking for a way to make extra money online, then
get serious. Find a company that is committed to your long term
success and not a one hit wonder where the only people who will
make money are the owner and a few of his/her select friends.
Find something you believe in and work that product or program
or service with your heart and soul until you know it as well as
you know yourself.
Below is short list of some of the tools and resources you
will need to succeed online:
Autoresponders and List Managers -- You will need to start
building your own lists. If you are going to succeed online,
get a pro version AR that is ad-free and does not limit your
messages.
Ad tracking -- You are going to do advertising and you need to
know what ads work and what ads do not work. With an online ad
tracking program, you will be able to easily tell what ads are
making you money and what ads are costing you money.
Customer Support -- When was the last time you went to a website
and found a working phone number and real address? There are
many websites that tell you they will get back with you in 48
hours. 48 hours, that is about 1/3 the lifespan of a
housefly--not that we are houseflies, but if a company cannot
respond to you the day you send a request, do not deal with
them.
Training -- Everyone needs training. Find a company that is
going to give you training and not just email training. Find a
company that you can call and get trained in any and all aspects
of their business.
A solid affiliate program with recurring commissions - Make sure
you do not have to wait for a $50 payout and that the company
will actually pay you. Recurring commissions mean you are paid
a percentage of the monthly fee paid by the person you brought
to the site. Give away products-- You do not want to work
with a company that gives its products away, but you do want to
have a variety of products that you can give away to your
prospects to get them to subscribe to your newsletter or join
your affiliate program or use as incentives.
Viral marketing resources -- You want tools that can be branded
with your affiliate links and then you give those tools and
resources away. As the people you gave them to also give them
away, your links begin to multiply themselves around the
Internet.
A nice looking website or affiliate sales site -- Make sure that
the product or program you join has a good looking and updated
website and or sales page, and most importantly you want the
page to have all the information a prospect will need to make a
positive decision.
Leads and Advertising - Leads go hand-in-hand with your
Autoresponder. You do not want junk leads but leads that are
verified and preferably less than 30 days old. The company you
deal with should have access to solid advertising vehicles and
if they are a good company, they will negotiate discounts for
you with advertising resources they know will work.
You CAN make money online! However, you are going to have to
work at it. Nothing worth anything is easy, and nothing worth
anything is free. You pay for everything that has value to you.
You must assign a value to your online money making
opportunities and you need to spend money to make money.

Cider House Writing
Dr. Joe Vitale
In my e-book, Hypnotic Selling Stories, I tried to explain how the messages you send out have a double meaning. There's the meaning you intend, and then there's the meaning your readers conclude. There's often a major difference. This is hard to explain, but let's try, anyway.
Nerissa and I watched a wonderful movie a few days ago called Cider House Rules. It stars Michael Caine and Toby MaGuire. It takes place in Maine, in the 1940s, in and around a home for orphans. The film is beautiful to watch, slow and moving, like a great colorful painting come to life.
The essence of the story is this: Toby is an orphan who learned to deliver babies from his mentor, the doctor played by Caine. While Caine would perform abortions as needed, Toby would never do them, saying they were illegal. They were against the rules.
As the story moves on, Toby decided to leave the orphanage and see the world. He does, at least the world of Maine. While working as an apple picker, he befriends the fellow workers. One of them gets pregnant by her own father, and needs an abortion. Toby, backed into a corner and realizing the necessity of the situation, performs it. Now the rules don't matter.
I've over simplified the movie's story to make my point obvious. So let's see if my plan worked.
Okay. On the first level of communication, the movie is about people growing up in the 40s and dealing with their personal problems, with a focus on orphans in Maine. The characters are deep and the plot is engaging. You can watch it and say, "I enjoyed that one."
But on another level, there are messages in the movie designed to sink into your mind without doing so with a hammer.
For example, what does the title -- "Cider House Rules" -- mean?
In the house Toby and the apple pickers lived in, there was a set of rules posted inside. No one could read them because no one could read. When Toby appeared, he read the rules. The first was no smoking.
Well, the pickers laughed, as they were smoking as they heard about the rule. So, "Cider House Rules" referred to the rules posted in the house where the apple pickers lived.
But what does it mean on a deeper level?
The movie was about abortion. It showed that rules made by people who don't live in the situation the rules affect, were rules worth nothing. That when reality set in, the rules would be ignored. When push came to shove, so to speak, a person would get an abortion if their situation called for it.
But the movie never came out and said that.
And that's the point. Hypnotic Writing is often subtle. It sneaks in a message under your mental radar. It tells you a story that entertains you, while the message slides into your consciousness. The next time you think of abortion, you'll unconsciously remember the lessons from "Cider House Rules."
You may even make a different decision because of it, and you may never even know it.
Hypnotic writing is more than clever phrases and a knowledge of language. It's also remembering that people make unconscious conclusions about your messages. Be careful what you say, yes. But also be careful to what people may conclude.
Take this brief article. On an apparent level I am telling you to be aware of your communication. But on a secondary level, I am communicating my own knowledge of hypnotic language. Somewhere in you is the thought, "Wow, Joe sure knows a lot about hypnotic writing."
This may even get you to sign up for my upcoming private seminar on hypnotic writing.
You might also note that I plugged one of my e-books in the first paragraph of this article, which seeded the idea that you should go get it right now.
This whole article, in a way, is a hypnotic story designed to sell you on my work.
Again, there are at least two messages in every communication -- the obvious and the concluded.
Take a look at your own writing. What are you trying to communicate -- and what are people concluding?
You may be surprised by what you find.
