I had an interesting dilemma recently. I thought so much about
this problem that my head began to hurt.
On the Internet reprint rights are available everywhere and in every
form. There are books, software, articles, floppy disks, cd-roms,
audios and videos all with reprint, resell and redistribution rights.
One thing I have noticed in my time online is the more valuable
a product seems to be the less value it holds over time if it is
offered with reprint rights.
Internet marketing has evolved in such a way that reprint rights
are offered as an incentive for customers to buy our products. The
result of this has been that books of incredible value have been
lessened to virtually nil value.
Why?
* Because the book is so easily attainable.
* Because the book’s exposure has not been carefully monitored.
* Because a price has not been set for their sale.
* Because the book is able to be sold or given away, thus making
it virtually impossible to sell when the same product is offered
elsewhere free.
* Because they are offered in packages, thus diminishing their value
as a stand alone product.
Reprint rights are best offered when you want quick exposure to
a particular market, you want to become known in your marketplace,
you have a product that promotes some of your affiliate links and
you want to create backend sales, and you want your product in the
hands of as many people as possible.
Improve the credibility and value of your products by following
these 10 easy steps:
(1) Sell your product at one price and offer reprint rights at a
much higher price. For example, sell your initial product for $19.
97 and sell resell rights for $49.97.
(2) Set a fixed price for the sale of your product. For example,
“This product must be sold for $24.95”.
(3) Only allow your product to be sold on its own. This way no-one
can include it in packages with other products.
(4) Sell a limited number of resell rights. Add extreme value to
your product by only selling, for example, 10-100 licences to sell
your product.
(5) Instead of selling your product with reprint rights offer it
as an affiliate program, thereby control of your product remains
with you at all times. You have an unlimited number of people worldwide
selling your product and receiving a commission for it. You receive
free publicity and multiple sales with little costs on your part.
(6) Be selective in what products and services you offer with reprint
rights. If a product has been on the market for a number of years,
over time its value will be greatly diminished. I personally have
reprint rights to over 70 products, however, I’ve been very selective
about the products I promote and my website http://www.reprintrights4u.
com only has a handful of what I consider premium products with reprint
rights.
(7) If you are thinking of selling a certain product with reprint
rights do a search online for that specific product and see if it’s
already available for free. If so, it could be difficult to urge
prospects to buy from you when they can buy it elsewhere free.
(8) Create value in a product with reprint rights by offering it
in multi-formats. For example, if you have the rights to an audio
tape create a manual out of it and thus make your offer unique.
(9) If you are thinking of writing a book with reprint rights then
make sure you soft-sell links to products with your affiliate links
to earn a profit on the back-end.
(10) In books you publish make sure you explain clearly to the reader
what rights they do or don’t have and at what price the book must
be sold. Monitor it even more closely by making them register by
email to sell your product or to obtain a password to open the product.
======================
SIDEBAR: Find a source that offers you resell rights to ebooks
that can be rebranded. Ie. rebrandible ebooks have great value to
the distributor because these ebooks can be rebranded (or customised)
with your affiliate links and thus any products that are bought through
your rebranded books you directly receive commissions for.
I personally use and recommend these two resources for high-quality
rebrandible books with reprint rights:
(1) Profits Vault Monthly
(2) Reprint Rights Marketing
======================
Personally, most of the books that I have read from start to finish
have been ebooks that I have bought for their content alone, with
no reprint rights. Remember, if your book is valuable enough people
will pay for the information that it contains.
