How To Ask Questions That Make You Money
Michael Cheney Michael Cheney

Here are some of the really important questions that can make you money on the web:

Question 1. "What Do I Want People To Do When They Land On My Homepage?"

Think about it. You've shelled out on a fancy pants website, maybe spent something on marketing it and you have attracted a visitor to your homepage. Now what? You say you want them to buy something from you? Don't we all?! But this isn't going to happen right away in 90% of cases. So you need to think of something else.

Stop complicating the matter by trying to get the visitor to read about your history, your products, your great customer service and everything else. Focus on ONE single action that you would like the visitor to take. Something that will mean you can follow up and contact them..

Question 2. "How Can I Get Visitors To Tell Me They're Interested In My Product Without Them Having To Buy Right Now?"

Get them to raise their hands, state an interest, request further information, phone you, email you, download a guide, request a DVD - anything! But choose just ONE thing.

Question 3. "Which Pages On My Website Can I Delete Forever?"

Less is more - enter Captain Cliche. But it's true. Why have hundreds of pages on your website when 10 would do the trick. Some of the most profitable sites in the world have less than 10 pages and they are turning thousands every week! Sure - you might need some of your pages for search engine purposes or to actually add value to your website but don't just add them for the sake of it or because you feel you should.

Question 4. "How Can I Work Out What My Visitors Want Most From My Site And Give It To Them As Quickly As Possible?"

If you think about it, this is all a website is about - giving people what they want as quickly as possible. Have a look at your website statistics and see if people are really reading all your Case Studies or News articles. Maybe lots of people contact you asking for a brochure or prices - why not whack these on your site? I bet you can think of at least two things that you know for a fact people visiting your website are ALWAYS looking for but you' re not giving it to them quickly enough, or at all.

So there you have it - some questions that will make your website money.

Rankings are important but just focusing on them without spending more time on how to improve your website is like trying to fish by tying the worm on the end of a line instead of using a hook. You'll attract a lot of fish and get some great nibbles but you'll never land a big catch!
